Social Skills Camp
A four day camp specifically developed for children with autism. Participants will learn social skills to effectively share space with others. They will be taught to think about others in everyday settings, and learn to regulate and adjust their own behavior.
The camp takes place in a safe and fun environment with and on trained therapeutic riding horses. The goals of this camp will include positive social behavior strategies from proven programs. The days will include skills in cognitive planning, listening, conversing, making positive impressions, using good manners in everyday interactions, personal problem solving, understanding relationships, developing friendships and maintaining friendships. Parents and care takers will learn strategies to reinforce good social behavior at home.
The camp activities will be led by licensed and certified Speech/Language Pathologists, along with PATH Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructors, and ManeGait lesson volunteers.
Parent information sessions will be held to provide information about the tools introduced and utilized during the camp.
