June issue of the Trinty Trail Preservation Association Newsletter:
ManeGait Therapeutic Horsemanship
Article by Pris Darling
ManeGait would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all TTPA members who support us through donations and volunteer hours.
The ManeGait mission is to help children and adults with disabilities move beyond their boundaries through the healing power of the horse and the dedication of a professional, caring community.
Located in McKinney and serving Collin, Denton, Grayson and Dallas counties, ManeGait is a warm and welcoming community non-profit therapeutic horseback riding center situated on a beautiful, rolling 14-acre site, currently serving 53 riders.
More than 600,000 people in North Texas live with a disability per Lili Kellogg, the Director. At ManeGait it’s been a year of hope, accomplishments, healing and firsts…..the first high five from a 2 year old with Autism who never before gestured, a toddler who took his first 3 steps after his first riding lesson, a child who spoke her first words after riding for the first time.
At ManeGait, a NARHA member center, we offer therapeutic riding and education, as well as a chance for our riders to join in competitions such as Special Olympics and the annual ManeGait Horse Show where most riders received their first awards for athletic competition.
ManeGait Director Lili Kellogg is nationally recognized in the equine assisted therapeutic riding community with over 22 years of experience in teaching, instructing, and program development.
In addition to daily, hands-on involvement from Pris and Bill Darling, Co-Founders, ManeGait is blessed with a highly experience staff and backed by an outstanding Board of Directors that includes community leaders who
are dedicated to philanthropy.
TTPA members Kathy and Dominique Martin are very involved at ManeGait. Kathy is the Volunteer Coordinator overseeing 275 trained volunteers. Please visit our beautiful web site: www.manegait.org
